Regulations For Plumbing

There are a set of rules called bylaws that are produced to control any work that is carried out work on any plumbing installation. There is a requirement for anti- syphon valves that must fitted to paricular shower installations if the shower head is below the top of a bath. There is other plumbing work that needs to be certified or inspected or both. For instance, to stop contamination or damage to appliances and boilers, new pipework work should be flushed through before connecting to the system. This will overcome the possibility of small amounts of debris remaining in the plumbing installation. Clerkenwell Plumbers know the regulations.Other Regulations. We are also compelled to adhere to current Building Regulations and also the I.E.E (Institute of Electrical Engineers) Wiring Regulations. I.E.E Wiring Regulations cover things like the bonding to earth of plumbing installations and it is really critical to obey these. Metal plumbing has to be earth bonded, although this can be very easily ignored but at our peril. A Clerkenwell Plumber can arrange specialised electrical work. Lets say, that there is a plumbing emergency and a section of copper pipe needs to be replaced with a modern plastic one, or you employ a plastic fitting to tee a supply to a washing machine. This means that the continuous earth connection for the pipe has been interrupted and some of the pipe is not earth bonded. This needs replacing by using an earth wire and a metal earth clamp on either side of the break to complete the line. I.E.E. Wiring Regulations does not stop here. There are lots of times when an electrical supply is required for the operation of an appliance, like electric showers, waste disposal units etc. Since this is quite a complicated document, you should aquire a copy of the Guide to the I.E.E. Regulations as well. This document suggests methods for work which will satisfy the Regulations.
